Pursuing opportunities for culture change in Fort St John |
|
In May the Proton Foundation delivered a STEPS to Excellence training programme in Fort St John, Canada, and explored future culture change opportunities with the City Hall and School District.
Jim Dunn, the Proton Foundation's Education, Training and Development International Director, and Harvey Trauter, Proton training facilitator, travelled to Fort St John in Canada in order to lead a discussion with government, education and community leaders on opportunities for a city wide culture change initiative.
Alpha Safety Solutions, a locally based training and consultancy company, hosted the visit which saw a full week of appointments including presentations to City Hall and two community groups, appointments with the Mayor, representatives from the School District and other key community leaders, as well as the delivery of a two day STEPS to Personal Excellence training course.
The feedback was very positive, both from the presentations and the course. Delegates said they felt very energised and motivated by the content and delivery.
"My wife and I both attended the STEPS course and found it very intriguing and educational. STEPS gave us a bit of a surge of renewed energy for our own life and our interest in helping others." COLIN
There continues to be a growing desire amongst key community leaders to see a programme of initaitives and training developed to assist Fort St John to pursue culture change. The Foundation has begun to scope out a possible proposal of action which will include the delivery of a second STEPS course and a pilot of the youth version of the programme, PX2, later in the fall.
Find out more about community transformation through culture change and the available courses in the Foundation's, Education, Training & Development portfolio.
