The phase II Emerge conference, hosted by Women’s Development Leader, Linda Howell, saw with her own eyes God’s destiny for the women of Europe unfold that weekend. Along with a short-term mission team of 12 from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom - Linda, Judith Green and Gabriele Rienas led training sessions and workshops focused on being women of influence. Topics included the dynamics of influence, creating at atmosphere of faith and spiritual mothering. The delegates were encouraged, empowered and released in their areas of influence to make a positive difference and advance the kingdom.
EMERGE has been designed to target women leaders, age 18 years and older, who are ready to say goodbye to any self made walls of protection, insecurity or hidden pride. As women, we are not designed to live behind walls. Instead God calls us out, beckoning each of us to rise up in His strength and use our God given voices. As the women poured into that upper conference room on Friday they were invited to come out of the shadows of their life past and present.
The response was amazing. Women wept, journaled, prayed, sought after the Lord and worshipped. The conference closed on Saturday afternoon with an interactive activity called, ‘Cardboard Testimonies’. Each woman was given a large piece of white cardboard and asked, in just a few words, to write their testimony. On one side of the cardboard the women wrote what their lives were before encountering Christ, on the other, life now.
One by one the women stood. Showing their ‘before’ side and then ‘after Christ’. No words were needed. The room had fallen silent except for the soft music playing in the background. Woman after woman stood and powerfully testified to the faithfulness of the Lord. Some cards revealed sadness, loss of hope or abandonment only to be replaced by faith, future and the unending love of God.
Overall the conference was a huge success giving the Women’s Development team momentum for EMERGE 2010. Leadership Development conferences for women are scheduled for two stops in North America [Portland, OR March 5-6 and South Bend, IN March 12-13], and three stops in Europe - Estonia September 24-25, Czech Republic October 22-23 and Slovakia October 29-30 in 2010. As word spreads about the EMERGE conferences, requests are coming in from all parts Europe including Spain, France and Romania. An EMERGENCE conference is also being developed and will be offered for the first time in New York City in May along with some new innovative leadership resources.
