October 2009 - Mount Pleasant, USA

On Sunday, October 18, Ian came to Northwest once again to minister to our congregation during both of the morning services. He spoke from Luke 4:18-19 on Jesus being the Broker of Hope, describing the essence of poverty and delving into who are the poor. He reminded us that it’s not just the materially poor that the Church brings hope and community to but to those who are morally, relationally, motivationally, and spiritually poor. Every once in awhile he interjected “eye-opening” statistics, such as “In more than 20 European nations there are less than 1% Evangelical Christians.” Ian concluded with Psalm 41:1-4 describing the benefits for those who consider the helpless. He deposited many seeds that morning for missions − more giving and more going, and left us with this question for each of our lives − “Will we be brokers of Hope like Jesus?”

Later that evening Ian shared a meal with the Pastors and Staff and afterwards taught on the “Three Achilles’ Heels of Leadership” unveiling things that often plague leaders. I was blessed to be part of that time and thoroughly enjoyed his personal experiences, dreams, and aspirations.

I look forward to Ian returning to Northwest soon!
