In February 2010 Ian was the guest speaker at The Oaks Leadership College in Red Oaks, Texas in the USA.

One of the students wrote about the session:
As a learning leader it was inspiring to hear Ian Green encourage my fellow peers and me. From the moment he started speaking, Ian captured our attention and held it through to the final amen. His words have continued to resonate in the hearts and minds of my fellow leaders and I in our individual contemplations and group discussions. Many of us feel as though Ian has been one our favorite speakers this year because of the way he challenged us in his message.
One of the more impactful quotes of the day was "the moment you stop learning is the moment you are unworthy to follow." I felt inspired when Ian started talking to us about how vital it is to live in a lifestyle of learning. As leaders in our world today, if we expect anyone to want to follow us, then we have to show we are worthy of following in the first place. If we are not constantly learning that, how can we ever expect to change the world we live in? It would be ignorant for us to assume that we could simply sit in our "bubbles" and learn all we need to know to be a valuable leader and world changer.
Also, something I believe we all know but seldom practice is that we need friends. As leaders we need friends to support us, call us out and love us.
Ian did a good job of helping my peers and I understand the value of having a core support system. In this core support system you have to become vulnerable for your leadership to become respected.
Ian blessed us with more than just those truths. It was an honor to be able to learn from the life and experience he has had, and glean many lessons from them. I am sure my peers and I will remember the time Ian came to speak to us fondly because we all were blessed by what he had to share with us and we all learned so much from him.
